What's an EA?
An EA is authorized by the U.S. Dept. of Treas. to represent taxpayers / business entities / estates+ before the IRS in tax preparation, audits, collections, and appeals. Several hundred hours of IRS approved education are completed in preparation for 12 hrs of testing specific to tax and ethics. EAs are the tax experts often hired by CPAs . CPE req are min 72 hrs in 3 yr cycles .
