Recognized by colleagues as a leader among medical staff, Dr. AppaRao Mukkamala serves as the chairman of the Department of Radiology at Hurley Medical Center, were he earned the Pinnacle Award in 2009. Aside from his prominent role at this Flint, Michigan, medical center, Dr. Mukkamala holds responsibilities as the president of Associated Radiologists of Flint, PC, and as the president of the Greater Flint Imaging Center, LLC. Further, he utilizes the knowledge gained from his professional experience as a clinical professor of radiology at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Dr. AppaRao Mukkamala maintains board certifications in radiology, pediatric radiology, and nuclear radiology from the American Board of Radiology.

Active in his field, Dr. AppaRao Mukkamala has affiliated with numerous professional organizations, including as president of the Michigan Medical Society and delegate of the American Medical Association. He won the State of Michigan Distinguished Citizen Award in 2010 and is listed in Who’s Who in the Midwest.

Born in the village of Budhavaram in Andhra, India, Dr. AppaRao Mukkamala graduated from Guntur Medical College. Known for his compassionate nature, he has devoted many hours developing affordable and quality medical care programs for rural populations in India through NRI General and Specialty Hospital and its mobile clinics.
