In my 30 year tenure, I sat by, listening… listening to speech writers argue over grammar and spelling. I listened to presenters sigh, stumble on run on sentences, tongue twisters, words and names they did not know how to pronounce. I listened to them whisper frustrations, unable to get through a speech that was written to be read but not said! My job was to stay silent and watch directors, coaches and press secretary’s advise executives, politicians and actors. Meanwhile, I would edit scripts and “doctor” them up so they would be easy to read as a script and not a speech.

From my vantage point, I saw presenter after presenter making the same mistakes. I made a long list of how I could help people and began to apply these changes as I worked. My job evolved from hushed input into requests from directors (who were tucked away in control rooms) to coach the talent on the set.

I found that I had a knack for coaching. My observations from years of listening to thousands of presenters and watching “what worked” and “what didn’t work” were invaluable insights for my own personal speaking engagements and I applied these principles to my work as a public speaking coach.

The rest is history!

Since then, I have been working with high profile dignitaries in high stakes environments as a public speaking coach and teleprompter consultant. I have a deeper understanding of what is needed to assist many different types of individuals; whether it applies to politicians, executives, sports figures, celebrities or entrepreneurs.
