As vice president of KAG Logistics, Inc., which is part of the Kenan Advantage Group, Howard Woodie McDuffie has developed ethanol transportation logistics capacities spanning six locations nationwide. Responsible for sales, marketing, and business strategy, he has also guided development of the North Canton, Ohio, firm’s rail-to-truck transloading operations. Howard Woodie McDuffie’s experience in his sector began in the late 1970s when he accepted cement dispatcher responsibilities with Miller Transporters, Inc., in Brandon, Mississippi.
Transferred to the company’s Jackson, Mississippi, office in 1980, Mr. McDuffie assisted with efforts to create a central dispatch system that took advantage of tank truck industry deregulation. Coordinating diverse asphalt, cement, chemical, and light oil units, he facilitated expansion of Miller Transporters' long-haul tank truck business. In the mid-1990s, Mr. McDuffie helped establish Miller Intermodal Logistics Services, Inc. as an internationally networked tank container operator. As president, he managed more than 200 tank containers spanning 52 countries each month and grew annual revenues to $10 million.
